The Pesado Clump Crusher – Raya is a barista tool designed to improve espresso preparation by breaking up clumps in the coffee puck. This tool is ideal for baristas looking to enhance the consistency and density of their espresso shots, making it a valuable addition to any coffee setup. Its removable needle system allows for easy cleaning and customization, ensuring that you can maintain optimal performance and aesthetics over time.
The Pesado Wooden Clump Crusher is a WDT distribution tool that breaks up clumps, fluffs the puck and evens out density before tamping — for smoother, more consistent shots. Its eight 45mm needles reach deep into the coffee bed to redistribute grounds without over-disturbing the puck, reducing channelling and improving flow uniformity for higher, more repeatable extractions.
The removable birch wood leva end comes in Pesado’s signature Raya finish — vacuum-dyed and sealed with a heat- and water-resistant wax for lasting durability. Each needle is individually replaceable, so you can swap one rather than the whole tool, and it’s designed to match Pesado’s wooden portafilter and tamper sets.
The Pesado Clump Crusher - Raya is designed for baristas and coffee enthusiasts who want to improve their espresso preparation. By using the Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT), this tool helps to break up clumps in the coffee grounds, promoting an even density in the puck. This technique enhances extraction and can lead to a more balanced flavour profile in your espresso.
The Pesado Clump Crusher - Raya is crafted from cross-layered birch wood, which has been vacuum dyed to ensure a long-lasting colour. This choice of material not only provides durability but also adds an aesthetic appeal to your coffee setup.
The Pesado Clump Crusher - Raya weighs 33 grams. This lightweight design makes it easy to handle and manoeuvre while preparing your espresso, ensuring that it fits comfortably in your hand during use.
The Pesado Clump Crusher - Raya features a removable needle system that includes eight needles. Each needle is 45mm long and has a thickness of 0.3mm. This system allows for easy cleaning and replacement, ensuring that your tool remains effective and hygienic over time.
While the Pesado Clump Crusher - Raya is primarily designed for use in espresso preparation, it can be used alongside various grinders and espresso machines. It is recommended to use it with a grinder that produces a fine coffee grind to fully benefit from the clumping reduction it provides.
Maintaining the Pesado Clump Crusher - Raya is straightforward due to its removable needle system. Regularly clean the needles to prevent coffee residue build-up, which can affect performance. Simply remove the needles for cleaning and replace them when necessary to keep the tool in optimal condition.
