The Turin DF83 Variable Speed Single Dose Grinder is a high-performance espresso grinder tailored for coffee enthusiasts and professional baristas. It features an 83mm DLC-coated flat burr set and a variable-speed motor that allows users to adjust burr speeds from 300 to 1,200 rpm, enabling precise control over grind consistency and flavour profiles. With its whisper-quiet operation and external grind adjustment, this grinder enhances workflow efficiency, making it an excellent choice for those who value café-grade performance at home.
The Turin DF83V is the flagship of the Turin DF single-dose range — a serious-bench prosumer espresso grinder built for enthusiasts and professional baristas who want full control over every variable in the grind. At its heart sits an 83mm flat burr set with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating — a hard, low-friction surface treatment that extends burr life dramatically and keeps cuts consistent shot after shot. What truly sets the DF83V apart is its variable-speed motor, adjustable from 300 to 1,200 rpm. Slow burr speeds produce a tighter, more uniform particle distribution favoured for clarity-focused espresso, while higher speeds run faster for milk-based drinks and lighter roasts — letting the barista actively dial in flavour profile, not just grind size. A 680W motor delivers serious torque even at the lowest speeds, and Turin’s whisper-quiet engineering keeps it surprisingly subdued for a grinder of this class. External grind adjustment lets you tweak settings without removing the hopper or opening the chassis — a meaningful workflow improvement when dialling in. The magnetic chute and magnetic catch cup snap cleanly into place for true single-dose workflow with minimal mess. Finished in matte black with an aluminium body, the DF83V is built for the coffee enthusiast who wants café-grade flexibility on a home bench.
The Turin DF83 Variable Speed Single Dose Grinder is designed for coffee enthusiasts and professional baristas who require precise control over their grind settings. Its variable-speed motor and external grind adjustment make it ideal for those who want to tailor their grind for different coffee types, from clarity-focused espresso to milk-based drinks.
The Turin DF83 features an 83mm DLC-coated flat burr set, a variable-speed motor that ranges from 300 to 1,200 rpm, and a powerful 680W motor. It has an external grind adjustment for easy tweaks, a magnetic chute for clean operation, and a single-dose capacity of approximately 60g. Its aluminium body is finished in matte black, making it both durable and aesthetically pleasing.
The Turin DF83 is designed to work effectively with various espresso machines and coffee brewing methods. Its single-dose workflow allows for precise dosing, making it compatible with scales and other accessories that baristas may use to measure coffee. However, it is essential to ensure that the grinder's output matches the requirements of your specific brewing equipment.
Maintaining the Turin DF83 involves regular cleaning of the burrs and chute to prevent coffee residue buildup. The magnetic chute and catch cup are designed for easy removal, allowing for quick cleaning between doses. Additionally, periodic inspection of the burrs for wear and tear is recommended to ensure consistent performance. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for detailed maintenance instructions.
Compared to other grinders in its class, the Turin DF83 stands out with its variable-speed motor, allowing for a tailored grind profile. While many grinders offer static speed settings, the DF83's ability to adjust from 300 to 1,200 rpm provides greater flexibility for different coffee types. Its whisper-quiet operation and magnetic components also enhance user experience, making it a strong contender among prosumer grinders.
In Australia, the Turin DF83 Variable Speed Single Dose Grinder typically comes with a manufacturer's warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship. It is advisable to check the specific warranty details at the time of purchase, as they can vary. Additionally, customer support is usually available through the retailer or directly from the manufacturer for any service or technical inquiries.

Had my ECM Synchronika serviced by Espresso Works recently and figured the service was worth writing a review of my excellent experience. I bought my machine second hand and immediately encountered a leak from my flow control valve. Another 5-star rated company charged me an absolute fortune and didn't resolve the issue until the second visit. I had to show them how to fix the leak, and that it was two perished o-rings that caused it. The fix only requires 10 minutes of work and a few dollars in parts. They also returned my machine with a dent and several scratches. The reason I include this anecdote is because it doesn't seem uncommon for companies to offer servicing and repairs for premium machines and not actually know what they're doing or take any care in the quality of their work. Espresso Works is a welcome exception to this. Meaghan organised for Dom to both collect and return my machine; both times were prompt and on time. When it was returned, all surfaces had been wiped down and looked almost new again. All my valves, levers and taps are smoother and quieter than I'd have expected them to be on a several year old machine! They listened to what my concerns were about the machine before pickup and these were reflected in the service report on my invoice where each issue was looked into. In short, I highly recommend Espresso Works to anyone with a premium machine, especially those with ECM machines, as the work done on mine is fantastic and the experience interacting with their company was great.Posted on Google![]()

Top quality customer service. Great product range for high-end home coffee machines. I had small issues with my Torre Peppina. They sent a technician straight away to get it fixed and followed up to ensure the machine was working perfectly. I recommend buying with a local like Espresso Works Perth WA for the extra assistance post-sale.Posted on Google![]()
